UPyD Murcia celebrates the new Statement of bus routes but warns that "not where they should go" (08/02/2012)

The Municipal UPyD in Murcia City Council welcomes the adoption of Statement of bus lines, but disagrees with the proposed new lines agreed by the Governing Board on the proposal of Councillor for Transport, Javier Iniesta.

Also, congratulated the officials who have worked in the new Specification, as will improved services, given the age of the current contract, more of the eighties to today.

The spokesman for the formation magenta, Juan Ruben Serna, wanted to highlight that although the new circle line is "very successful, the paths of the other lines do not seem the most suitable. Leave with limited bus service to major population centers. We agree to unify duplicate routes ", but" the new proposed not reach where they should and are not a solution, "he added.

The new Statement of urban lines, approved by the Governing Board, provides for the elimination of existing lines 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and 15 and organized a new system of pathways that does not take into account areas of high population density.

Specifically, according to Serna, the neighborhoods most affected by the new routes would be James and Zaraiche, and especially the district of El Carmen and the Infante Don Juan Manuel.

From Murcia UPyD proposed alternatives that would endow public transport for greater intermodality, namely that citizens can make use of both bus and tram, taking advantage of both.

For example, a division line 17 into two paths, covering from the Plaza Circular, in the center to the North and South (James and Zaraiche and El Carmen), or extend the route of the line 80 to cover James the Greater and St. Pius X.

Finally, Ruben Serna wanted to remind that since its formation has been claimed several times that public transport that takes place in the municipality of Murcia happens to be managed by a municipal company, improving key aspects such as frequency of use, connections and services.

"Ultimately," the councilman UPyD in the city of Murcia, "we should study this process as have other cities and with great success."

Also UPyD Murcia wishes to express its satisfaction with the maintenance of jobs in the current drivers for the new concessionaire.
