"New grip belt: rush of the water bill" (03/02/2012)

The PSOE mayor Juan Patricio Castro reported that the rising water in 2012 will affect most of the household economies of the residents of the municipality to experience an increase of over 6 percent in the bi-monthly billing of water, percentage that will add a 3% increase for sewer, according to tax ordinances adopted by the local PP alone.

The PP provided the same benefits

In addition to this rise in the water bill, said Castro is totally regressive, that is, the less you will pay more and consume the least, which is also punishable by this increase.

This is the case of pensioners, who were up the bill by 10%, when pensions in the Murcia region are among the lowest in Spain.

Equally this climb-down it says the socialist councilor for families with low incomes who consume about 17 m3 of water will have to pay a 6% increase on your bill, while the receipt of another family with average income high and 36 m3 consumption will rise only 1.8%.

Paradox

In this sense, the PSOE mayor explains that there is a direct relationship between income and consumption of water.

"The higher the income the higher the water consumption, and what is paradoxical is that in a region where there is plenty of water, now the PP does not penalize the highest intakes."

Finally, Castro recalled that the Council Emuasa held last December, the Socialist Group disagreed with this rise in water bills, although the PP, as is his custom, passed alone.
