A professor at the University of Murcia proposes a new system of election of the Supreme Judicial Council to limit the fees (18/01/2012)

Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Murcia Costa Francisco Garcia has proposed a system of election of the members of the Supreme Judicial Council (CGPJ) that limits the process of assessment and gives greater prominence to the judges' organizations and other institutions .

The study, published in the latest issue of the journal "Annals of Law", University of Murcia, states that "the parliamentary election has become, as a result of the distortions introduced by the State party, in the distribution appointments between the different parliamentary groups. "

The proposal of Professor Garcia Costa advised that "the judicial source members that have not necessarily be appointed by the Congress of Deputies and the Senate are elected by the group of judges and magistrates."

It also suggests that those others who necessarily have to be chosen by those cameras, "what are among those presented by groups such as law schools and professional associations."

The teacher sees it this way, the choice of the latter "would be verified with a series of mechanisms to limit the quota system."

These mechanisms include exclusion of the parliamentary groups in the nomination and election ban, among others.
