Espinardo continues with the occupational classroom project to prevent absenteeism (18/01/2012)

Eleven students involved and dedicated to mechanical

Murcia City Council continues with the occupational class was launched in Espinardo in the 2009/2010 with the aim of young people regularly missing classes, aged between 14 and 16 years, to recover interest in attending the educational institution and continue their studies.

This project, which developed the Department of Social Welfare and Health and Education, in collaboration with the IES José Planes and local Salzillo College, with the participation of eleven young people who are in a situation of lack of schooling or early school leaving, have a disadvantaged family situation, have not achieved the objectives of secondary education, the level of absenteeism is high and have difficulties in the process of socialization.

This initiative has significantly reduced absenteeism and young people to acquire basic skills of mechanics.

The activities undertaken are designed to convey experiences and knowledge relevant to their social, cultural enrichment and expansion of expectations regarding their interests and future.

In addition to the mechanical workshop and classroom activities of the Occupational, make visits to their neighborhood, regional library, car dealership, aqualandia, etc and participate in sports activities.

The Board of Governors approved the budget for this project.

There is another similar occupational class in El Palmar, which was launched last year and offers basic training as cooks and waiters in hotel.
