The Plenary approved the proposal submitted by the Mayor
The City, through the plenary, has joined the United Nations resolution has proclaimed 2012 as International Year of Cooperatives, recognizing the weight of the cooperative sector in boosting economic and social development.
The proposal, presented by the Mayor, taking into account the relevance of this model on a municipality, where there are currently about 750 cooperatives with 10,000 members, a figure that rises to 6,000 people if it incorporates the agricultural workers.
The motion passed promotes recognition of the Corporation to work towards developing UCOMUR the creation and maintenance of employment and expresses its determination to continue working to publicize the International Year of Cooperatives and cooperative activities that promote drive in the city during 2012.
