Citizens have direct line to the City Council to request action on each of the more than 38,000 trees in the municipality (21/12/2011)

The Department of Environment, who runs Adela Martinez-Cache, in 2012 handled a total budget amounting to 16,656,829 euros, representing a 10.08% increase over the previous year.

Of this amount, 11,214,011 euros will go towards the maintenance and improvement of parks and gardens while the rest will be for the environment, which is intended to maintain the efforts made so far in policies to protect the environment and sustainability.

Murcia has reached a position of leadership in environmental policies and is now referring to the Spanish and European level so it will continue in that line, both in terms of resources and the quality of environmental services.

One of the most outstanding projects of the council is implementing a new tool that will allow citizens to have direct line to the City Council to request action on each of the 38,033 trees in the municipality.

Thus, any citizen can access from any computer to this application and indicate exactly which tree needs care such as pruning or replacement.

What is sought with this and other actions, is to involve every one of Murcia, taking action in neighborhoods, streets and small spaces, leading environmental policy "to micro."

Thus, 'A tree surround a tree' arises because the citizens have shown, with their calls and emails to the council and the media who are interested and concerned about the special needs of the trees, and are willing to help by giving notice of their possible needs.

To facilitate this contact has developed this application that includes the entire inventory of street trees for every citizen to seek improvement and plantation activities or substitutions.

Another commitment of the council is to continue providing those green areas a special role because they are gathering places that foster the relationship between residents of all ages and conditions.

This will continue to work the gardens are areas ideal for relaxing, reading or talking, and also have a space reserved for fitness training outdoors, designed especially for the elderly, one for the game more small and those in the possible availability of a kiosk, and the creation of new areas of residence and recreation, and areas for sports activities.

In this way, ten districts will follow the steps of the Garden of Fame and most recently the city park on the Malecon in addition to stroll and enjoy the fantastic vegetation, may soon have a refreshment kiosk located in the annex to the children's play area.

Aljucer, Avileses, Boatmen, Neighborhood Progress, churros, Cobatillas, Corvera, tall, and Lobosillo Truyols Gea and will also have kiosks that can increase your chances of enjoying in the garden in addition to generating employment and development opportunities associated with this type of establishments.

Also in 2012 was intended to create small spaces within the gardens to promote various activities that enrich the daily lives of the green areas.

This will open a recovery process and environmental landscape gardens in collaboration with the neighbors starting with the Malecón in the garden, with the Association of Friends of Botanic.

Volunteers from the university there belonging to this association and neighbors planted in a flower garden Mediterranean shrubs to make a flower monothematic and dedicated to the teaching of botany Murcia.

In addition, maintain programs for revitalization of green spaces as DiVerde or environmental education programs.

On the other hand will continue to create gardens for leisure, such as those already grown in several gardens in the municipality (Ronda Sur, the Green and Young Sangonera Futura and District Progress), in other parts of the city.

The first Espinardo, which shall be added, also new school gardens in schools.

Currently the municipality has 4,565,744 meters square of green (almost a million more than in 2008), which is 10.3 meters square per Murcia, thus fulfilling the recommendation of the World Health Organization.

In these parks and gardens are installed playground 2104 units, 350 units and 40 units of gerontogimnasia games for disabled children.

Environment in the next year must serve to strengthen the leadership in the fight against climate change that the City began in 2007 with the launch of the Local Strategy for Climate Change so that the current commitment is the compliance with the Covenant of Mayors is the planning tool to carry out the policies of energy conservation and efficiency, and care for the environment in this area.

This will continue with the management and maintenance of 3011 hectares of municipal forest parks, by promoting the new system of land stewardship with local associations thus encourages the creation of green jobs.

Another initiative we propose to undertake in this area and carry out the Local Energy Agency of Murcia is the creation of two municipal networks:

- Red-Zero Emissions Building: Creating a Red-Zero Emissions Building (Building energy self-sufficient) Zero Emissions A building is one in which no emissions of greenhouse gases due to their activity.

The easiest mechanism for doing this is common or the use of renewable energy sources to generate the energy consumed by the building either through solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, geothermal, biomass or a combination thereof.

In principle will work on 24 municipal buildings, which have been audited, evaluated and fall within the parameters of efficiency.

- Advanced Intelligent Building Network: Network of Intelligent Buildings with Energy-saving electronic systems within the Smart Spaces project, "Smart Spaces" with European funding, which also involves monitoring and control systems of energy consumption in municipal buildings from accountants Telemanagement.

On the bike, it is noteworthy that during the 2012 Murcia leads the Network of Cities for Bicycle, which includes more than one hundred municipalities, so it will work to turn this means of sustainable transport in urban transport reference.

The Municipal Office of the Bicycle will address the implementation of some of the measures planned in the Bicycle Master Plan of Murcia in terms of policies to promote cycling as a means of mobility.

In general terms, it will continue to adopt the measures approved in the Master Plan includes bike Murcia cyclable 573 kilometers of roads in both Murcia center and the districts and 7150 bicycle parking spaces.

Thus, during 2012 will undertake the following actions:
