The University of Murcia has its Center for Experiments in Production and Digital Content (20/12/2011)

The project, promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, through red.es, and the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) is part of the "Professional Digital" involving 24 Spanish universities who presented their projects to the two public announcements.

The Centre of Murcia, with a budget of 326,137 euros, thanks to the contribution of the European Regional Development Fund, has workstations, two studies of audiovisual production, motion capture, virtual reality, video conferencing and storage systems , distribution and publication of digital content generated in the center.

Murcia, December 20, 2011 .- The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, through the public company red.es, the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and the University of Murcia today launched the Center Production and Digital Content Experimentation installed at the university.

Specifically, the project for the creation of Basic Production Center and Experimentation at the University of Murcia has received the first call, a financial outlay 326,137 euros, provided a 70 percent red.es, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the remaining 30 percent by the University of Murcia, being 10% of the total project (32,614 euros) for coordination activities, dissemination and standardization of red.es.

The initiative is aimed at training in digital content, audiovisual production and postproduction and motion capture.

The University of Murcia is one of 24 Spanish public universities adhere to the program 'Professional Digital', which has for its development with a total budget of 12.1 million euros, 8.4 million euros for the 21 universities stick to its first edition and 3.7 million euros for the 10 that have made the second.

It aims to promote the national industry of digital content, favoring the formation of students and professionals and to foster collaboration between universities and businesses, through the development of new academic programs and the creation of production facilities and testing Spanish public universities.

Training program

Training activities have been carried out at the University of Murcia with its own studies courses aimed at students, teachers and industry professionals focus on areas like graphic design and multimedia and web design, 2D/3D animation, motion capture editing, audiovisual production and postproduction, as well as storage, distribution and publishing.

Interaction with industry

They have established relationships with the business sector for joint training of professionals, using the means provided by the University.

Besides hosting trainees in their respective businesses, encouraging the training of future professionals.

About the program 'Professional Digital'

The 'Professional Digital', which is part of the Plan to Promote the Digital Content Industry in the Plan Avanza 2, has five main objectives:

1.

Train a larger number of students and professionals in the digital content sector.

2.

Developing partnerships with industry to promote the implementation of joint training and university-industry technology transfer.

3.

Encourage the establishment of universities as "poles of Innovation", to act as academic and professional respect and promote technology transfer between academia and business.

4.

The creation of technology-based companies in the field of digital content.

5.

Promote the creation of a common space for sharing digital content knowledge.

The creation of these Centers of Production and Experimentation in the universities, along with the development of new training programs that make use of these facilities / laboratories, allows to form and start to students and professionals in the generation of content such as games, animation, 2D / 3D, virtual reality, graphic design and advanced audio editing and video.

As part of the common actions that will benefit all universities, has created a web portal and is developing a content repository, which will facilitate communication, sharing knowledge, experiences and best practices for digital content between universities , companies and society in general.

With the launch of 'Professional Digital', is estimated to be established partnerships with over 90 companies in the industry to promote technology transfer between academia and business.
