Councillors Peter Lopez and Andrea Garries have held this morning a meeting with representatives of the Association of Friends of St. Stephen Field to see the current status of archaeological coinciding with the second anniversary of the cessation of work on the car.
Councilwoman Andrea Garries, pointed out that this decision was the triumph of culture and of a citizen's movement helped save the archaeological site discovered at the beginning of the excavations in front of the obsession with carrying out a project with a strong popular opposition.
Garries also noted the need to condition the environment of the site because it still maintains the original fencing works by one appropriate to the category of Cultural Property.
"Until we begin to put the work in the archaeological value, the system of protection and maintenance must be renewed to offer a better picture because it is a space located in the heart of Murcia," says the socialist mayor
Finally, the PSOE Councillor pointed out that the remains of the ancient Arab neighborhood is a historic discovery of the first level to Murcia, which must be kept in the best possible conditions to begin the process of museological and warns that since the Municipal Socialist Group we demand that the deadlines because we believe that the site is an opportunity to boost tourism and economy of the city center.
