The Socialist Group proposed a grand bargain to PP by the mobility open to other political forces and social agents (05/12/2011)

Pedro Lopez has today requested in writing to the Mayor House to accept this agreement and has made available the strategic plan for mobility with the PSOE was presented to the municipal elections because they "can serve as a basis to open a serious debate on this matter in the municipality "

PSOE spokesman, Pedro Lopez, now the mayor has directed writing House proposing a grand bargain for the mobility open to other political forces and social actors involved to achieve the greatest possible consensus, and that decisions taken now will an impact on the city during the coming decades (remember that the current public transport system comes from the decade of the 80).

Critical moments

Mobility and traffic in the city live a delicate moment.

On the one hand, Lopez recalls the public transport operating company has requested bankruptcy has been accepted by the courts, and in parallel the City Council has announced a reorganization of the urban lines through a new tender and its intention to extend the tram to the barrio del Carmen.

Public Transport Authority

Two issues that are transcendent to mark the future of the municipality, said Socialist spokesman, who, in this sense, defends the need for a grand bargain in which the Public Transport Authority should play a fundamental role, since as capital Murcia a large metropolitan area can not remain outside the political mobility of neighboring municipalities and should be the Autonomous Community to coordinate these movements.

Murcia 100% Plan

On the other hand, Lopez reported that the Socialist Group has made available to house the strategic plan Murcia 100% on mobility which the PSOE was presented to the municipal elections, which can serve as a basis for discussion on mobility in the municipality.

Urgent measures

For the Secretary of Transportation of the Municipal Executive Socialist Rafael Richart, some of the actions covered by our plan of mobility should be done with some priority because it would make substantial improvements to the traffic and quality of life.

The measures include:

Implementation of a bus network with fewer lines, more connected and more frequently, so that the citizen does not mind having to make a transfer or two to reach their destination.

Implement the unified ticket (including bus and tram).

Replace the layout of the new tram line (South) Bus Rapid Transit lane restricted to bus and taxi prepared to leave the city, with one lane restricted for a future streetcar era of more economic solution.

Implementation of circular systems combined with heat exchangers.

Giving continuity to bike lanes and introduce some new ones that cross the city and avoid traffic at risk or on the sidewalks.

Make some park and ride in strategic areas.

Advantage of new bus lines drawn to avoid duplication and optimize routes they are deployed.

Connect the districts with good sidewalks and those possible with each other.

Prolonging the late evening buses.
