Chamber notes that the creation of the cluster environment in Murcia will be an opportunity for the use and sustainability (30/11/2011)

This has been assured in his speech at the World Congress of intelligent cities.

It brings together cities, "Smart City", ie applying innovative mobility solutions, environmental management, energy efficiency, information technology or architecture, with the aim of achieving more livable urban environments.

Sustainability policies are not only an opportunity to ensure the future of coming generations, are also a source of generating jobs.

This has been one of the premises highlighted by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, in the speech he made today at the World Congress of intelligent cities-Smart City Expo World Congress, held in Barcelona.

Chamber's participation takes place in the plenary session "Implications for the recruitment and management services macromunicipal" in the field of Smart Spain, and will focus his presentation to introduce the reference cluster environment and renewable energy Murcia.

The project is an initiative promoted by the City and grass, which is to turn the town into a national and international sustainability, not to mention the effect it will have on the local economy and job creation.

This is a project "ambitious and unique," he assured the mayor, whose relevance is clear from the standpoint of economic, environmental and social, of the generation that will result in 4,000 jobs.

"The moments of crisis like this are particularly suitable for revising outdated approaches and perhaps define proposals for the future," said the Mayor, who also noted that its development will represent "an example of how governments can take to boost public services sustainable actions that promote renewable energy and at the same time, represent an opportunity for employment. "

In the case of Murcia, that opportunity came with the announcement of the tender for the management of public service for street cleaning, collection and treatment of urban solid waste in the municipality of Murcia, which this year was awarded to Cespa.

The reference cluster environment and renewable energy is one of the largest proposals and interest that seeks to promote the City Council in the coming years will be critical to the success of which the participation of businesses and other institutions, especially universities and development.

"Our purpose is to promote, conduct, dissemination and transfer of research and innovation in waste management, environment and sustainable energy," said House.

To do this, the cluster will consist of several areas that will transform the current treatment facility solid waste into a strategic asset.

Specifically, it proposes the construction of an energy recovery plant biomass and plant recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment, along with a business area of 10,000 square meters destined to become a reference for the environment and renewable energy.

The project also envisages the creation of a large industrial area, one of R + D + i and two more reserved for conferences and academic activities.

Innovative Cities

If the Covenant of Mayors, who joined Murcia in 2008 - was the beginning of local government commitment to sustainable development, the Smart Cities are the future and both share the same goal: to reduce CO2 emissions in cities.

While Green Digital Charter focuses on efficiency to reduce emissions and improve the environment through the Information Technology and Communication (ICT), the Covenant of Mayors aims to achieve energy efficiency in a more transversal.

The term "Smart City" is defined as the cities that implement innovative solutions for mobility, environmental management and natural resources, energy efficiency, information technology and communication and planning, in order to achieve more efficient urban and functional but above all, more livable.

In this way, look for new solutions to better manage the towns.

The vital if one considers that in 2008 the city hosted the world for the first time in history more than half the world population and UN projections indicate that by 2050 urban dwellers will account for 75 % of total.

This requires actions to economic growth and environmentally sustainable city, ensuring the quality of life for its inhabitants.

This is the main reason why today's cities must become intelligent cities, and to achieve innovation and technology will have a key role.
