ANSE launches the "Farmers and biodiversity, natural allies" co-financed by the ESF (28/11/2011)

The project involves the management and recovery of biodiversity as a source of innovation in agriculture, especially those in particularly fragile environments such as wetlands environment Iberian Southeast.

It began on November 1 following the signing of the agreement between the director of the Biodiversity Foundation, the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, and Director of ASEAN, and will last for one year along which explore partnership opportunities between biodiversity and farming as a source of innovation for farms.

To do this, and among other activities, there will be courses, advice to farms, will be published guides and conduct a public awareness campaign, involving different municipalities of Murcia and the south of Alicante.

All activities are free-financed by the ESF.

To date, most agri-environmental initiatives were intended to support extensive farming or ecological regime.

In this case, it is proposed to seek alliances between intensive agriculture and biodiversity, addressing all of the objectives of the Programme Empleaverde.

The conversion of farms, through counseling and / or training to production methods compatible with environmental conservation, which in turn include specific actions to improve biodiversity on farms, is seen as desirable ultimate goal of the project.

Empleaverde Program has provided support worth 6.2 million euros for 61 projects from the business sector, professional and trade union foundations, NGOs and associations, and academia, who will implement training and dynamic performances of work towards a new model of economic development.

The program is financed through the European Social Fund (ESF).

The selected initiatives are aimed at generating employment and improving skills and increasing the skills of workers and supporting the establishment and modernization of enterprises.

In all cases, promotes the sustainability of economic activities and eco-innovation.

The projects target economic sectors such as agriculture (production, processing and marketing), forestry, fisheries, the energy, the environmental sector and sustainable rural development in protected areas and biosphere reserves, sustainable tourism and the rehabilitation sector and construction.
