The Socialist Group voted against a partial plan for the construction of 10,000 new homes in Esparragal (24/11/2011)

The mayor said that Juan Patricio Castro solo approval by the PP part of this plan once again confirms that urbanism in Murcia is made without prior planning and without considering the implications of what is going to mean a lifting of nowhere macro development almost as big as the pool and palms together, which will only be accessible from the A7 and away from public transport

The Municipal Socialist Group today voted against a partial plan for the construction of 3 million square feet of 10,000 new homes in the hamlet of El Esparragal, 30,000 citizens.

"This is up from nothing a town almost as large as the pool and palms together, which can only be accessed by a single entry from the A7, and away from any urban transport, forcing thousands of citizens take the car, "says the mayor Juan Patricio Castro.

More resources, more traffic and less quality

In this sense, Castro recalled that Murcia can not continue to grow indefinitely and without there being any planning for this growth exorbitant.

"There is another way to make planning and urban development with this unjustified will collapse even more traffic in the area will generate economic costs do not have resources (urban transport, health, education, etc..) And decrease the environmental quality of municipality ".

In trial

Besides, remember the PSOE Councillor this urban action is involved in a judicial proceeding as we have emphasized on other occasions, the PP should delay as much as possible decisions because "otherwise you may cause irreversible damage citizenship ".

Or is there any interest shameful to imply that management decisions can not be stopped, asks Castro.

More and more empty homes

Similarly, he continues, all these factors must be added no less harsh reality of a deep crisis caused, inter alia, by the bursting of the housing bubble.

Is not it time to seek other avenues of growth other than the construction of new homes?

Remember that in the municipality of Murcia there are about 30,000 empty homes, of which about 10,000 are new.

Would not it be appropriate to stop and plan measures to correct this situation?
