More than 12,000 women participating in the activities of these associations

Councilwoman Equality and Development Cooperation, Alicia Barquero, has initiated a round of visits by the Centers for Women to see the facilities, activities performed and main demands of this group.

In the municipality there are 74 Centers for Women and women's associations in neighborhoods and districts, involving over 12,000 women.

The Centers for Women are associations of women generally belonging to a given geographical area (district or parish), whose objective is to become aware of the situation of women, promoting equal opportunities between the sexes and increase their activities and personal and social impact on improving their quality of life.

From the women's section of the City of Murcia offers technical support to women's associations in general and in particular to the Centers for Women on its constitution, legalization, dynamic organization of work of the boards, management and operation.

It also offers a specialized service for information and guidance on equal opportunities for men and women.

During the past year we have carried out individual performances, group, call and visit.

The City Council made training courses for Women's Centers to improve the integration of women in the workplace, provide meeting places to help the personal development, provide expertise on issues of basic interest and strengthen the culture of equality.

Over a thousand people have participated in these training actions in which workshops were held monitor leisure, assistant geriatrics, clinical assistant, English, specialized care to Alzheimer's disease, dependent care, education for participation, Laughter therapy, personal development and communication skills, memory training, computer, email and internet and women and advertising.

The Centers for Women also have preventive physiotherapy workshops, which have involved about 550 women, prevention of gender violence, with more than 300 participants, and encourage reading, in which associations and Centers participan17 Women with 160 attendees.

In addition, training courses are held at the Institute for Women, nutrition workshops and training courses aimed at management teams, last year have had the participation of 296 women, members of the management teams of the 74 Centers for Women .

From the Department of Equality Policy is aware of the importance of training the boys to prevent gender violence, and have developed training initiatives in this field aimed at men, attended by 250 people.

Also, the Centers for Women Special Day activities like the celebration of International Women's Day (March 8), Gala Benefit for Haiti, Painting Competition 'Flowers and Books', and the National and International Day to Combat Violence Against Women (November 25).

These meeting spaces also have recreational activities such as cultural visits and trips, and workshops, entertainment, sport and dance and belly dancing, salsa, pilates, sewing, embroidery, etc.
