Murcia is promoted as culinary destination (10/11/2011)

Councillor for Tourism presented the project 'Savour Spain', a club which includes 20 cities aimed at enhancing the food-related visits

Councillor for Tourism, Miguel Cascales, this morning the Product Club 'Savour Spain', which is part of Murcia since January.

Cascales, accompanied by the Director General of Tourism, Enrique Ujaldón, the chief executive of Taste Spain, Luis Pujol, the chief of companies of 'Savour Spain', David Izquierdo, and the Voice of Gastronomy Hostemur, Francisco Fuentes, this initiative has shown hoteliers, restaurateurs, professionals from the tourism and gastronomy, and Appellations of Origin of the Region, to involve in this project.

'Savour Spain' - 'Tasting Spain'-chaired by the renowned chef Pedro Subijana, and formed by Fehr (Spanish Federation of Hotels), Spanish Association for the Promotion Destinations Gastronomic Tourism, Euro-Toques (European Organisation for Cooks formed by the most prestigious chefs) and Facyre (Association of Pastry Chefs and Spain).

'Savour Spain' aims to extend the concept of culinary tourism, develop experiences around food culture, capture new markets, enhance collective restoration, etc..

This involves integrating gastronomic resources and tourism services.

Currently twenty cities belong to this club, they are: Albacete, Badajoz, Cambrils, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Gijón, Lanzarote, Lleida, Mallorca, Menorca, Murcia, San Sebastian Sant Carles de la Rapita, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia , Tenerife, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza Vinarós.
