The University of Murcia will contribute to building schools in Haiti (08/11/2011)

The University of Murcia in libraries wards and General Nebrija hours of study to redeem for cash, which will go to development cooperation projects in the Olympic Solidarity initiative, which will run until December 5 at four locations Region (Murcia, Cartagena, Molina de Segura and Sewer).

The University of Murcia contributes an additional year to an act of solidarity that, in Spain promoted by the NGO Co celebrates its ninth edition with the participation of ten countries that provide hours of study to fund schools in Chad, Colombia, Haiti, Latvia, Mexico and Mozambique.

The money raised will be used in Spain for the second consecutive year to educational projects in Haiti, given the devastation caused by the earthquake in population and infrastructure in the Caribbean country.

In this issue, as has been said today at the presentation of the Olympics, which took place at the offices of Chancellor of the University of Murcia has set a challenge to overcome last year's figures, which were more than 27,000 hours of study of 2,700 students and reach 30,000 hours and 3,000 participants.

To achieve this in the region have enabled a total of 13 rooms supportive, but lack the Library of Lorca, which was severely damaged by earthquakes in May and still remains closed to the public.

Elena Oliva, head of the Olympics in Murcia, thanked the public and private organizations support the project participants.

For its part, Maribel Sanchez-Mora, Vice President for Students and Employment, showed the satisfaction of the University to collaborate on a project that "is to form students as citizens."
