The new works in the city receive the approval of disability associations to ensure their accessibility (25/10/2011)

The Mayor presided this morning the creation of the Office of Accessibility, which will advise the City Council in the new urban projects to continue building a barrier-free city

The intention of the City Council is that all citizens can continue to enjoy a Murcia to push boundaries, and this task has launched the Office of Accessibility, the first formal meeting was held this morning.

The constitution was chaired by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and Councilwoman Equality Policy and Development Cooperation, Alicia Barquero, and it was attended by representatives of the Association of Parents of Children with Hearing and Speech-Aspanpal- , Murcian Federation of People with Physical and Organic-Famdif-Cocemfe-Federation of Organizations for Persons Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy in the Region of Murcia-FEAPS-National Organization for the Blind of Spain-Once- Association of Paraplegics and Physically Handicapped Department of the Autonomous Community of Murcia-Aspaym.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee created in the City Council priority will ensure that all construction projects of reform in public and meet any other basic parameters so that any person with or without disabilities, find a city without barriers or obstacles.

The Mayor recalled that years ago the Council works on removing physical barriers, which has earned the recognition of different national associations, but "in this new term we wanted to create a municipal entity to oversee all construction projects prior to execution. "

The Office reports directly to the Department of Political Equality and Development Cooperation manages Alicia Barquero, and will be located in the new Ibn cArabi building.

"We continue to count as before in collaboration with the associations to continue to city," remarked House.

A technical bulletin, which is responsible for maintaining public buildings, will also endorse the suitability of new projects.

In addition to receiving any kind of initiative, suggestion or complaint about a deficiency exists, the new Office will treat any new project will be reviewed in advance from the point of view as the technical advisory committee.
