The school Our Lady of La Alberca Fuensanta Joins Green Schools in the municipality (25/10/2011)

Another week plus a town center of Murcia is in luck.

If the last school Nuestra Señora de la Antigua de Monteagudo received the plaque credited as Green School is now the turn of the Virgen de la Fuensanta CEIP La Alberca.

The Councillor for Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, and Education, Lola Sanchez have visited this morning the center where, advised by environmental educators from the Department of Environment, have developed activities aimed at achieving improved environmental management of their school.

This school has worked on issues of water consumption and waste generation.

It is worth noting some general activities undertaken as the development of a system of separate collection within the facility, reuse of materials for the Christmas decorations and school supplies for educational work.

Equally notable is the creation of a very stable and Environment Committee meant that it has taken advantage of all resources of the Environmental Education Program as teaching lectures on the topics of water, waste, etc..

and a visit to Nature's Classroom Majal Blanco.

Be specially noted that in the school of Our Lady of the Pool Fuensanta has put into operation, which employs all children, an important school garden in order to develop good habits and respect for nature.

With the garden reuse rainwater and sources, recycle organic waste lunch and organically grown and native seeds.

The Green Schools Project, included in the Environmental Education Program of the City of Murcia, intends to conduct an environmental audit scheme schools.

The main objectives are to optimize the use of resources (paper, water, energy) and minimize the potential environmental impact of their daily activity and, finally, environmental training and educating the entire school community to lead the center's management towards sustainability.

The Green Schools program is not just an environmental audit, but must be understood as a great opportunity to work teaching environmental education where players become students, faculty, and staff of a self-evaluation.

This year marks the sixteenth edition of the project that started in the school year 2001-2002.

Since the implementation of this program to date has involved a total of 45 schools and colleges ranging from kindergarten to high school.

Those who have managed to meet environmental and educational goals scored, have been honored with the award "Green Schools" in recognition of his work.

Since the program began and 17 centers have been awarded.
