IU-Green Councilman José Ignacio Tornel Murcia has claimed the municipality of Murcia today requiring the company not to cut Emuasa water supply to households residing in families with all members unemployed.

Tornel explained that access to water is a right of citizens according to various international agreements, including the resolution of the United Nations Organization (UN) on the Human Right to Water and Sanitation.

In this regard, he indicated that water shortages have occurred in 200 families in the neighborhood of La Paz is "a disgrace to municipal officials" and "an abandonment of the institution that should protect them."

For the mayor, "the years carried out by council officials to promise a prosperous future for this neighborhood have been a hoax", as the consistory Emuasa majority share, "has nothing to avoid this situation."

He vows that the Neighborhood Council East, to which he belongs La Paz, has not faced this problem in their full because "the president likes to pose in fake progress scenarios with which to mask the true situation of severe poverty."

He also claims to respect that at the last meeting of the Board, the member of IU-Green could not raise the issue of cuts in water supply "a strict application of the regulations concerned and by their president."
