Mayors of cantons of Ecuador visit Murcia to know the model of tourism (17/10/2011)

Barquero Alicia explains that they are interested in Tourist Consortia related to environment and sustainable tourism

Councilmember Development Cooperation, Alicia Barquero, has received a delegation of mayors of cantons of Ecuador interested in the tourism model developed in Murcia.

Specifically, it is the President of CODECH - Corporation for the Development of the territories of the river basins and Chimbo Chanchan (Ecuador) - and Pallatanga Canton Mayor, Eduardo Moreno, the chief of CODECH, Jorge Ivan Delgado, the Local Project Coordinator CODECH, Roberto Carlos Herrera, and the engineer and Canton Mayor Colta Tayupanda Hermel.

The purpose of this visit is to implement a tourism consortium in the province of Chimborazo (Ecuador), which is an area inhabited by indigenous communities rich in natural resources.

This project is part of Municipia initiative, a program that performs the Spanish International Cooperation Agency (AECI), the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), the Confederation of Funds for Cooperation and Solidarity (CONFOCOS) and the Ministry Public Administration (MAP), with the cooperation of the City of Murcia, to promote and strengthen local and municipal world in all the countries where cooperation.

CODECH representatives will visit the municipality of Murcia, Tourism Qualification Center of the Autonomous Community, Villanueva del Segura, Blanca, Murcia, Alhama de Murcia, Sierra Espuńa, Aledo, Totana, El Valle (Visitors Center of the City of Murcia) and Cartagena, to learn from tourism models implemented in the region in order to transfer them to Ecuador.

Also, use the visit to meet with the Ecuadorian community living in Murcia.

Colta Canton was founded in 1534, being a people who have been influenced Inca and Spanish Puruhá.

It has great natural heritage consists of lakes, moors, mountains, volcanoes and hot springs routes.

In their territory the railway line built more difficult in the world, which is the devil's nose.

Colta Canton is located 3,200 meters above sea level and has a population of 47,000 inhabitants, most of whom live in Guayaquil and Quito.

The Canton Pallatanga has a subtropical climate and is rich in flora and fauna.

Its inhabitants are descendants of the Puruhá, so retain a rich history.

Stand on its territory and have important waterfalls of organic agriculture crops.
