From 500 to 3,000 euros for marrying a foreigner (07/10/2011)

There are 22 membership organization arrested for criminal offenses against the rights of foreign citizens and forgery

National Police agents have broken up a criminal network dedicated to fraud legislation on immigration through illegal marriages.

There are 22 people arrested for belonging to a criminal organization, crimes against the rights of foreign citizens and forgery.

The investigation began after detection of proliferation in several parishes in Murcia celebrations of canonical marriages between Nigerian and Spanish, and the subsequent use of the documentation generated by these administrative acts to stabilize the foreign spouse.

The analysis of the documentation possible to determine a number of common features present in most marriages whose documentation was under study.

Among other things, highlighted the establishment of a false joint domicile of the parties, which often did not even exist physically as well as a profile of the contracting Spanish very concrete and specific, related to the scope of marginality.

In addition, people who were listed as witnesses appeared in turn as spouses in other matters like marriage and found the falsity of much of the documents in the case of marriage, such as baptismal certificates, certificates of premarital courses, documents issued by authorities Nigerian statements such as age or marital status, and other Nigerian passports.

The captured members of the organization, through intermediaries, to Spanish citizens who were offered sums of between 500 and 3000 euros in exchange for marrying with illegal immigrants and for the sole purpose of marriage that serve to their access card to the family residence of EU citizens.

22 people were arrested, 14 Spanish and 8 Nigerians accused of forgery, criminal organization membership and crimes against the rights of foreign citizens.

The officers searched a residence located in the city of Alicante and used by those responsible for research, which was operated computer equipment and documentation related to the facts investigated.

Research has been developed jointly by the Provincial Brigades Aliens and Frontiers of Murcia and Alicante, and the Central Brigade Immigration Network General Commissariat for Immigration and Border.

Brigades have also worked for Immigration and Border Provincial de Toledo, Malaga Cuenca.

It is estimated that the total number of marriages concluded in accordance with the procedure described above fifty.
