Mills Río_Caballerizas shown through photography what life in certain parts of Antarctica (29/09/2011)

The exhibition, the work of Chilean artist Magdalena Correa, is open to the public until December

Space Río_Caballerizas Mills hosts until next December a photographic exhibition of the Chilean artist Magdalena Correa, which is entitled "Nivea".

The exhibition takes place in two different spaces: landscapes of dream, which is situated in the Mills River with color photographs on glossy paper, framed on Dibon, light boxes and a small large-format model.

In stables, shows starkly, with photographs, light boxes and two videos, Parallel I and II.

Magdalena Correa exposure is a look not only at the raw, spectacular nature, but to the people and the development of the everyday that such harsh climatic conditions allow them to develop.

The various photo exhibitions have been presented in río_Caballerizas Mills Area, since 2008, have as their guiding vision of the territory, architecture, nature and the human footprint by various artists pose as a contemporary phenomenon.

Magdalena Correa wanted to explore those areas that are in isolation, insecurity and neglect.

Places where human life develops in harsh conditions, as it has to withstand the strong constraints that nature imposes a great power but of immense beauty.

Snowy, Antarctica, is a photographic and video ownership of "Bahía Fildes and Villa Las Estrellas" (Chile) located on King George Island, Antarctic Peninsula and 900 miles south of Punta Arenas.

Along with Hope Bay (Argentina) are the only civilian populations (families) stable and permanent in Antarctica.

In most images of this work was conducted in a four-week trip in October 2010, there is a protagonist, a common denominator: the snow.
