The Department of Urban Cleaning and Waste Management, launched a special service to celebrate the pilgrimage of the Fuensanta that made the cleanup of areas around the sanctuary before the rise of the Virgin and the course immediately after passage of pilgrims and continues until Thursday 15 September.
From Monday night until Thursday, 78 workers, 24 drivers and 7 supervisors clean the areas used by pilgrims yesterday, along with the expected machinery composed of 18 sweepers, 3 trucks, 6 box trucks unloading open sweepers and 4 gatherers who are responsible for emptying the 100 containers ready for use by pilgrims.
Of note, the distribution of 20,000 bags of trash biodegradable City Council held back on the route of the procession has been very positive, as the concourse was Fuensanta morning, a year full of bags closed and not of loose debris.
Furthermore, the waxes collected on Tuesday, were distributed among the pilgrims carrying candles have largely avoided the cumbersome wax stains on the floors.
The kilos of trash collected during these days have been 47,254.
