The University of Murcia celebrates this month the Scientific Diving courses and Navigation, the oldest of the Universidad del Mar (02/09/2011)

Between 5 and September 22 will develop two of the most veteran of the University of Mar-Campus Mare Nostrum: Scientific Diving courses and Art and Science of Navigation, both held in Cartagena.

Fernando Patricio Paz Martin, Director of the Navy Diving and Maria del Carmen González Castillo, Technical Officer and Underwater Water Activities of the Autonomous Region of Murcia are the directors of the Scientific Diver course, which, with 28 editions , is the oldest activity from the summer courses organized by the University of Murcia.

It aims to introduce students to diving, enabling them to dive to 30 meters deep.

The course includes both theoretical and practical aspects, including such topics as applied to diving physiology, first aid, rescue and retrieval theory, applied physics of diving or decompression theory.

It also includes diving in pool and open water, dived deeper gradually, reaching 30 meters.

Students may visit the Submarine Base.

Art and science of navigation

On the other hand, celebrates the nineteenth edition of the course of Art and Science of Navigation, also directed by Patricio Fernando Martin and Maria del Carmen González, who tries to inform its students the theoretical and practical aspects of navigation training them at the same time, to skipper yachts.

Both courses have a duration of 120 hours, and students who enroll in them are entitled to a total of 4.5 elective credits.
