Murcia knocks on the door of the World Dance Alliance Europe (29/06/2011)

The Department of Culture initiated the process to be part of this global organization for dance

Murcia want to be integrated into one of the major dance organizations.

The City, through the Centro Municipal Puertas de Castilla, has taken steps to Murcia part of the World Dance Alliance Europe (World Dance Alliance in Europe).

Being a member of this prestigious organization, created under the auspices of the International Dance Committee and the International Theatre Institute of UNESCO (IDC-ITI/UNESCO), involves:

1.

Participate in activities and regional and global meetings of the three institutions are: American WDA, WDA WDA Asia-Pacific and Europe.

2.

Having the support and documentation of cultural heritage in dance to their preservation in addition to the possibility of cultural exchanges worldwide.

3.

Being involved with all parts of their networks, such as the creation and presentation, education and training, promotion and management, research and documentation, welfare and the state.

WDA Europe is the main voice of the art of dance in Europe and the world that supports and preserves the cultural heritage of humanity and creation, education, presentation, research and documentation of performing and visual arts in the recent years are experiencing a time of rebirth and extreme creativity.

WDA Europe creates a fascinating reality in the world of dance today, and represents a benchmark for professionals and amateurs.

WDA's activities are aimed at all those who have interest in dance and various forms of expression such as visual and performing arts, ie, dancers, choreographers, dance companies, and even writers, actors, musicians, painters, graphic artists, filmmakers, composers, researchers, cultural organizations, schools, universities, theaters, public and private, and so on.

This organization sponsors cultural activities, organizes meetings, competitions, activities as well as educational exchanges, cultural festivals, workshops ...

The World Dance Alliance Europe has members from different European countries: Sweden, Serbia, Greece, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Cyprus, France, United Kingdom, Portugal, Lebanon ... and is also the only official partner of the IDC ITI / UNESCO to celebrate the "International Dance Day" throughout the world each April 29.

Fontano supports Murcia

The spiritual father of contemporary dance in Italy, Joseph Fontana, and president of the World Dance Alliance Europe is visiting Murcia these days to support the city as a project to partner with the organization.

With Italian-American nationality, is a professor dancer, choreographer and researcher.

He was a disciple and colleague of the legends of modern dance such as Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Paul Sanasardo and Jerome Robbins, Fontano also danced with the Nikolais Dance Theatre in the United States and is the founder of the first dance company Italian contemporary Contemporanea di Roma Teatrodanza.

Since 1989 he has taught Fontano permanent National Dance Academy in Rome, the only government institution with a degree program for dance in Italy.

Joseph has choreographed and taught Bailly Opera Paris - France, Scapino Ballet - The Netherlands, BNT - Cuba, Fieldstone Summer School - New York, Switzerland Meadows Center - New York, La Scala in Milan - Italy, and invited by all companies in the world to teach her concept of dance through workshops and conferences.

He has also worked at the Laban Center in London and ran the company from the center of Transitions Dance (1999-2002).
