Editum published the first translation into Spanish of a masterpiece of music history, who was born 300 years ago (15/06/2011)

Editum, Publication Services at the University of Murcia, just expose for the first time translated into Spanish, the work "Gradus ad Parnassum," a masterpiece of the history of European music written by Johann Joseph Fux in 1625 , considered the most comprehensive treaty ended their season, and praised as such by the likes of Haydn, Bach, Beethoven or Mozart.

The work has provided the basis for three centuries, all treated as a counterpoint to the present day.

The book written in the form of dialogue between teacher and pupil José Aloisio (personification of Fux himself), was translated into several languages ​​with great success: German, French, Italian, English ..., but so far not been translated into Spanish, something that has been commissioned Professor at the University of Murcia José F.

Ortega in a volume published by Editum which attempt to provide an absolutely faithful to the original edition, including numerous musical examples made to the original by the Doge himself.

As stated by Professor Alvaro Zaldivar in the prologue, the Castilian version is a "Herculean undertaking passed over so many years."

The book will be launched on Thursday 16 June at 20 am in the Hall of the Faculty of Arts, Campus de La Merced, and immediately next to the author of the translation, intervene M ª Ángeles Esteban Abad, Vice Chancellor and Coordination Communication, Francisca Moya Bath, Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Murcia, Daniel Vega Cernuda, professor of counterpoint at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, Alvaro Zaldivar Gracia, Professor of Aesthetics and History of the Music Conservatory of Music Conrado de Murcia and Navalón Vila, Editum coordinator.
