Juan Bernal claims a leading role at the University of Murcia in the production model of the Region (03/05/2011)

Juan Bernal, until now president of the Board of the University of Murcia, has today claimed a major role of this institution to the setting of the production model of the region.

Bernal has made these statements during the session in which they fired Social Council, a position from which he resigned recently submitted to the Regional Assembly elections.

For until now president of this body to represent the University and society, "this institution has to be fundamental change in the production model, and has also shown its hope that the economic crisis can be overcome and reactivated projects "as important as the Campus of Health Sciences."

At another point in his speech referred to the growth experienced by the University of Murcia in more than seven years has headed the Social Council, and that it has completed, among others, the figures relating to the general budget, which has grown from 160 million in 2004 to 227 in 2010.

Also highlighted the growth experienced in research, from 296 to 594 projects in the same period of time.

Finally, he had words of appreciation to the members of this body "for your trust, support and understanding."

For its part, the rector, José Antonio Cobacho, thanked the cooperation received during these years "and for the love and the work you have devoted to our organization."

He has also taken the opportunity to reapply for their collaboration "on the go" and to refer to the need for funding that has the campus Health Sciences, "which has already invested 25 million euros."

Cobacho has handed over a plaque that shows the appreciation of the University for his contribution to the growth of it.
