The PSOE proposes organizing the municipality of Murcia on 6 major areas of development (11/04/2011)

The PSOE candidate for Mayor of Murcia, Pedro López, this morning a new structure for the municipality of Murcia designed to correct the imbalances created in the years of the PP between the center of town and villages.

New conception of town

This new structure is one of the pillars of the strategic plan and raises Murcia 100% extension of the municipality divided into six districts surrounding areas with common characteristics (geographical, historical, economic) to which they incorporate large equipment, such as university campuses, the city's health Arrixaca, the industrial West and the future airport.

Pedro López noted that such large parts of its population have to operate like small cities with a public transportation system that connects not only to Murcia City, but between the villages of the same area.

So if we subtract the 172.ooo inhabitants of Murcia City, we find that the South Mountain range and the area called Huerta East have about 81,000 inhabitants, a population similar to cities like Toledo, Pontevedra or Guadalajara, while areas with Guadalentín and Contraparada equivalent to some 40,000 Huesca, Soria or Sewer neighbor, while all villages of Campo de Murcia reach a total of 11,000 inhabitants, the same as Beniel or Calasparra.

The socialist candidate explained that the 100% plan Murcia also includes a number of general proposals based on the peculiarities of its territory for each zone, so that direct growth and economic development in the short, medium and long term.

Some of the proposals to Murcia city passed to strengthen the role of traditional trade, political and cultural activity leading and convert the Rio Segura in a large recreation area.

As for the South Mountain area, the plan designed by the PSOE bet for growth based on the slow movement (a sustainable lifestyle to take advantage of the proximity of the Sierra), to promote food and wine as a tourist attraction and cultural and bet the installation of a microenterprise and consolidation of existing local businesses.

For its part, the districts around the east are still characterized by a large presence of Huerta making them very attractive for the development of productive orchard, understood as a tourist and commercial opportunity for their products are also an appropriate setting for sports in nature and enjoy a healthy leisure, and social conditions can accommodate a large community center shelter for the needy.

The area called Contraparada meets in the presence of the two university campuses (UMU and UCAM) conditions to be switched to a small college town.

The proposals are completed to gamble to bring to its industrial parks dedicated to innovative companies and new technologies.

Regarding Guadalentín area is an area where large clump as the industrial facilities, the city health center, or transport integrated plant Cañada Hermosa.

Murcia The proposed plan to convert 100% passes through these spaces concerning sustainability and improve their connections with the rest of the municipality.
