The Jeronimos Monastery, home of the San Antonio Catholic University (UCAM), has been the scene this morning of the opening of the Israeli Cultural Week, by the President of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, Ambassador of Israel in Spain Raphael Schutz, and the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration of the CARM, María Pedro Reverte.

The symposium, sponsored by the Vice President of University Extension, through the Centro de Estudios Hispano-Israeli UCAM, held from 6 to April 12, prominent speakers such as Israeli embassy spokesman in Spain, Lior Haiat, Grand Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Madrid and the Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain, Moshe Sell Schelitta, or the Director of the Israeli Office of Tourism, Dolores López Frías.

The Minister of Presidency and Public Administrations of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, María Pedro Reverte, has weighed positively the initiative of the San Antonio Catholic University, and has highlighted the close ties between the Region of Murcia with Israel, embodied in joint cooperation projects focusing on various areas such as water management systems, economic development, Environmental protection, universities and business.

Reverte has said in this sense that "Israeli Culture Week of the UCAM is a step forward in strengthening relations with Israel.

Then the Ambassador of Israel in Spain, Raphael Schutz has defined Israel as a modern state, which has a dynamic and democratic society, and that focuses on investments in R + D + i, and human resource development .

The diplomat also urged closer cooperation between Spain and Israel in areas such as Economics, Culture, Renewable Energy and Telecommunications.

For its part, the President of the San Antonio Catholic University, José Luis Mendoza, expressed his sympathy for the Jewish people, has highlighted the synergies between Spain and Israel, and stressed the importance of promoting mutual cooperation between both nations and to strengthen interfaith dialogue between Jews and Christians.
