Murcia University today announced the Territorial Department of Finance, which, directed by Professor José María Portillo, will be devoted entirely to research, training, monitoring and reporting in this field.
The Chair is the result of a collaboration agreement with the University of Murcia with the ministries of Finance and universities, business and research, promote studies and research and report back to the regional and local authorities, both Spanish foreign.
Training and dissemination and transfer of results of research carried out will be one of its objectives, which will be carried out training courses, workshops, seminars and conferences, and will launch an electronic journal.
In addition, the Chair shall have a Finance Territorial Observatory, which will collect information and statistical data necessary for effective decision making in this area.
The director, Maria Jose Portillo, said the public presentation ceremony to be held at the headquarters of the Rector of the University, the multidisciplinary research team that makes up the Chair, which have faculty room, tax and financial advisors , regional and local officials and research scholars.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, said that in his years in office has encouraged the educational institution in the creation of Chairs, "which serve to project the company and transfer the results of the research being done at the University of Murcia."
For its part, the Director General of Economy and Planning of the Autonomous Community, Esther Ortiz, said the scope of study of the Chair is of "vital importance for the development of the welfare state in which we live."
The presentation was also attended by the director general of Universities and Scientific Policy, Eduardo Osuna, who spoke to the Chair as an example of collaboration that exists between the Ministry and the University of Murcia.
