Education launches an local Road Safety Education and Accident Prevention for children from 3 º ESO (25/03/2011)

In the last year involving 4,200 youth from 51 schools in the municipality

The Department of Education announces the XXII edition of the local Road Safety Education and Accident Prevention for students in 3 º ESO, with the aim to sensitize and educate students on prevention of accidents.

This event has been held since 1989, for students aged between 14 and 15 years.

The activity is organized and coordinated by the Department of Education and Youth together with local police.

The competition can occur all schools who wish to groups of three students.

Participants receive the material on the movement and traffic signals and perform tests of theory.

Take place three and a knockout stage after registration and preparation.

The first phase is done in schools, in April, each will get a group of three students.

The second phase takes place in May at the offices of the local police.

Theoretical tests are done to pass the third phase, and final, those groups that have obtained a minimum of 80 points.

In the third phase will qualify teams have won more points.

In case of tie, will join the points of the 2 nd and 3 rd phase, to continue producing a draw will be made 5 questions to each team and persist, there will be a practical test on the track Children's Traffic Park.

This phase will take place in June.

The prizes for the winners are:

1st.

Prize: 3 Bikes and trophies.

2 nd Prize: 3 bikes and trophies.

3rd.

Prize: 3 Wi and trophies.

4 th Prize: 3 Photographic Equipment.

5 th Prize: 3 MP4.

As explained by the Councillor for Education and Youth, María Dolores Sánchez, is intended to motivate students in learning and compliance with traffic rules, creating and reinforcing attitudes and habits of living, responsibility and caution in situations of risk and danger.

At first relates to the conduct of bicycles and mopeds, to start, then, learning the rules, signs and advice on their driving and that one should not forget that young people in this stage are regular users of such vehicles.

Sanchez this morning the initiative by the City Council and Traffic Safety, Nuria Fuentes.

In the last year 4,200 youth participated in 3 º ESO at this event, belonging to 51 schools, a 75.40% of the 67 existing in the municipality.

The Department of Education maintains that road safety education training is the best prevention for accidents.

Accidents in moped accidents has declined significantly over previous years, the trend remains positive.

Until November 2010 there have been 43 fatalities compared to 73 for the same period in 2009, representing a reduction of 41%.
