Saturnino Espin cloud covers the churches of Murcia in an exhibition at the Museum of the City (22/03/2011)

The exhibition, which opens this evening at 20 hours, contains nearly 50 photographs and will be open until next May 15

The City Museum exhibits until next May 15 the exhibition "Portraits of Murcia on a rainy day.

Iglesias' Saturnino Espin, which opens this evening at 20 hours and that shows a series of photographs with a common denominator: Murcia Catholic churches cover a dramatic cloudy sky.

In total you can see 46 photos of churches in the municipality on a rainy day, printed on canvas and mounted on the frame, as if they were paintings.

Photographed some of the temples are the Hermitage of Our Lady of Light, the Ermita de San Antonio el Pobre, the Cathedral, the Capilla de San José, del Pilar Shrine, the Church of St. Stephen's Church of San Juan de Dios, among others.

As Paco Salinas writes in the foreword of the book, highlights the "way between surreal and apocalyptic view of buildings, streets and plazas of the city of Murcia. Saturnino Espin (1952) participated between 1969 and 2007 in many photographic competitions getting more than 400 national awards and exhibitions collectively exposing resulting therefrom.

He also participated in group exhibitions with images in the years 79, 80 and 81.

In 2005 performed a retrospective exhibition and published the book No 5 in the collection of photographers Murcia, dedicated to his work, organized by the CEHIFORM (Photographic Historical Center of the Region of Murcia).

In 2006 and 2007 he published two books only for the annual event Fotoencuentros.

Out in Cartagena in 2008 under the title "Photography Invented" in the event of Fotoencuentros 08.

Has always taken a picture of surrealist and had never ventured into the urban landscape to start your collection of "Pictures of Murcia on a rainy day" in 2005, where it appears no one and only car to distract the viewer's attention which the only witness is the photographer.

It is made so far by 325 images, many of them are seen unpublished Murcia only a privileged few can see from their homes and that the author wants to share with all Murcia.
