The Visitor Center San Cayetano de Monteagudo celebrates tomorrow Open Day (21/03/2011)

All citizens may wish to know this new facility whose works are completed

The Visitor Center San Cayetano, in Monteagudo, tomorrow celebrates open day for all citizens who wish to know the facilities of this new center.

The works have already been completed and work is the furnishing and musealization of San Cayetano.

Visiting hours will be from 10.00 to 14.00 and from 16.30 to 20.30.

The Visitor Center San Cayetano is the first phase of a set of actions to facilitate the conservation of Roman and Arab Monteagudo environment.

San Cayetano offers superb value to the historical legacy that the city remains in the parish.

Murcia Tourist Consortium Crossroads is the promoter of this project, through which they have been conditioning the archaeological remains located near the church of San Cayetano to be visited, turning the square into a new Visitor Center.

The work has a budget of 2,278,300 euros.

The investment is provided by the Murcia Tourist Consortium Crossroads, led by the Department of Tourism of the City of Murcia.

The Visitor Center will be the support to expose the parts that have been resulted from the various archaeological excavations, to present the history of the valley and orchards of Murcia, palaces and walled enclosures and host their own cultural activities of such centers.

Next to the chapel of San Cayetano is located some archaeological remains of Roman road that linked Cartagena Fortuna.

This location has great archaeological interest because it is more intuited the presence of Roman and Arabic (XI). The Visitors Center protects and covers the remains of the Roman road.

The ground floor of the Center is presented as a continuation of the pavement of the plaza into the building and is essentially open, there is access control, shop, screening room, bar and coffee shop, etc. ..

The first floor is a completely self where will all the exhibition program: Roman room, living first settlements, Arab living room, the garden and room for future action (consolidation, accessibility and restoration of the castle of Monteagudo.)

There is also a space for facilities, terrace and staff offices.

In the center of interpretation, the public will have a first contact with the history of the city and its various historical episodes.

Visitors can make the building a historical-geographical thanks to the elements around which develop the center (the remains of the Roman road, Castillo de Monteagudo, Vega de Murcia ...).
