Pedro Lopez proposed to create a great media center for the area south of the city (14/03/2011)

The socialist candidate for mayor of Murcia, Pedro López, raised today the creation of a large media library in campus facilities Zarandona located in the Barrio del Carmen during a press conference at the entrance of these units located in the street Mayor Juan López Somalo.

Lopez believes that "the old flag of the UMU is a great opportunity for the south of the city" and has chosen to include within the proposed UMU on these broad cultural departments of a large space that can benefit all residents.

The socialist candidate was convinced that "in times of crisis the need for greater collaboration between all the administrations in order to fully optimize the investment and the resources available to the municipality."

Thus, it has committed to a collaborative agreement between the City and the University of Murcia to take the action it intends to develop the educational institution within the Mare Nostrum Campus project and also create a large municipal infrastructure related to contemporary knowledge.

Pedro López has noted that "this project aims to correct one of the great failings of the south of the city as is the absence of a cultural reference symbolized in the North Regional Library."

Thus, Lopez believes that these university departments are the place to create a great cultural space for the residents of Barrio del Carmen, the Polygon Infante and other neighborhoods of the South.

The socialist candidate explained that "a media library is the natural evolution of the libraries are places where, thanks to the use of information technology and knowledge is available to its users, besides the traditional book funds, supply cultural film, television, internet, music, etc.. "

Lopez added that "this project seeks to create an innovative infrastructure in accordance with the new digital modes of cultural production that would have a very supportive role of the cultural life of the south of the city."
