The socialist candidate for mayor of Murcia, Pedro López, has made this morning during a press conference at the bus station the lines of the axis of motion of Murcia 100% strategic plan developed by the PSOE for the next election, coinciding with the deadline for submissions to Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan has made the city of Murcia.

Lopez reported that the Socialist Party will not make claims on this document to which he described as "weak and contradictory" because it raises cuts on the current situation and does not include the character of the municipality and metropolitan area. "Given this situation, Pedro Lopez pointed out that the PSOE has worked on a new model city in the short, medium and long term, where public transport links serve to connect the city with the districts and among themselves.

Consensus and participation

In this sense, the Socialist candidate said that "the adoption of a Mobility Plan is a landmark decision for the future of any municipality. Thus has offered the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, to discuss this issue, as the new mobility plan for Murcia will run for several legislatures and need to go ahead with the widest possible consensus. "Ensure that residents can move in good condition should be a top priority for any government team," he argued.

Thus, the candidate explained that the model suggested by the PSOE wants to turn in a municipality Murcia connected in a sustainable, comfortable and modern, which meet the needs of residents through an efficient public transport system.

Actions

To do so, Lopez said it would be necessary to enable specific lanes for buses and give them right of way for them to have good frequency, develop visible and clear information about public transport at all stops so that people know how to get around by bus; advance the pedestrian street in the city and districts to encourage the use of public transport and reduce traffic in the center, and designing a network of park and ride in the safest possible way, which in turn are connected to the municipal bus network points and bicycle rental.

Other proposals presented by the Socialist candidate refer to the unification of the price down, public transport to the city and districts, an increase in night shifts covering hours of work and leisure, and an effective improvement frequencies, among other actions.
