The University Library celebrates Women's Day with an exhibition of comics (08/03/2011)

The University Library, University of Murcia has celebrated the International Women's Day with an exhibition of comics that opened today in this facility.

The exhibition "... of them, which remain in the Hall of the Main Library, Campus Espinardo, until April 14, picks through the scripts and illustrations of the comic, vision of life, relationships and the achievements of a group of women.

Comic books belong to the artists Ana Juan, Asunción Balzola, Mary Alcobre, Victoria Martos, Laura Perez, Gabriella Giandelli, Marta Guerrero, Maria Antonia Santolaya, China Bolio, Raquel Alzate, María Delia Lozupone, Nicole Schulman and Maria Isabel Carvalho.

In organizing the show has worked ComCultura association, composed of students of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the educational institution.

The General Library has also hosted the roundtable "Reading and Literature: Beyond Gender" in which participated the poet Denise Garcia, writer and psychoanalyst Mondéjar Lola López, Antonio Parra journalist and director of the Writing Workshop University of Murcia, Isabelle Garcia.

In this panel has discussed whether it makes sense to talk about reading habits and a way of writing that is different from female to male.

The University of Murcia has organized the First Conference of Gender Equality in the media of the region, held today, March 8, and tomorrow at the School of Communication and Information, Campus de Espinardo, and in which works the College of Journalists.

The first paper will be presented this afternoon at 17:30 hours, the director of the Equality Unit of the University, Encarna Serna, who will speak on "The importance of media to achieve real equality."

Then the reporter Encarnacion Hernandez will speak on "Gender equality in the media: a European perspective."

This first day will conclude with a roundtable that will be dedicated to the study of treatment for equality in gender violence cases, involving several reporters.

Tomorrow, from 17:30 pm, will be presented other papers, which will be the responsibility of journalists and academics.

In parallel, there will be a film series with a gender perspective in the Lecture Hall of the Merced, which will collect, day 9, at 19:00 pm, the screening of the film "Secrets and Lies", and day 10, the same time, the film "North Country."
