"The Government House is still giving back to women in using the Equality Plan as mere window dressing" (08/03/2011)

Lola Abellon The mayor claims that during the first year of that plan have not been carried out many of the measures proposed to ensure that women get a job as equals, sharing responsibilities in the private sphere and men are better represented in the power structures

The PSOE Councillor Lola Abellon regrets that the PP of La Glorieta fails to adopt a serious commitment and responsibility to equality.

"We can not allow the current economic detriment of the municipal development plan of equality, especially when women are being hit hardest by the crisis," said Abellon

In this sense, the mayor continues to repeat the occasion of International Women's Day, the Socialist Group's commitment to an equal Murcia "real and effective" where women can enter the working world as equals, sharing responsibility within and private men are better represented in the structures of power.

Measures in full

To do this, Abellon submit a request to the full this month asking the local government to engage in all municipal departments to the development of the Equality Plan so that it ceases to be "window dressing" a year after starting.

Thus, the PSOE Councillor require the adoption of a set of measures, which include:

That the development of the Equality Plan as a priority focus on generating employment policies at the local level, which is more flexible schedules of public services, school days are harmonized and streamlined business hours that are compatible with reconciliation of professional and working women and men.

Expanding the network of child care services and day centers, as well as the extension of hours in day care, schools and day centers.

Strengthening service programs and tele-home help to care for dependent persons, the elderly, families at risk of exclusion and people with disabilities, promoting female employment creation and entrepreneurship of women in this sector.

Promote guidance, training, and to encourage local entrepreneurial initiatives of women and strengthening networks of women entrepreneurs.
