The Mayor Chamber Astrapace visit the premises of the tenth anniversary of its Center Occupation (07/03/2011)

The mayor noted that thousands of families owe their peace, joy and hope to work done in this institution.

Astrapace serving people with cerebral palsy and related diseases in all stages of life.

"To you we owe the peace, joy and hope for many families and Murcia should be grateful for the selfless work every day, every minute, desarrolláis."

These statements have been made by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, who has visited this morning the headquarters of the Association for the Treatment of People with Cerebral Palsy and Related Pathologies (Astrapace), located in the hamlet of Zarandona.

Chamber recalled that the work of this institution is not limited to traditional and rake that is organized every year, with large numbers of Murcia solidarity.

The hard work of families is reflected in the spectacular growth experienced in the last decade.

Thus, if in 1994 began the school service, two years later Astrapace created the Early Warning Unit in Molina de Segura, serving children in that area.

In 1999 began to take care of children over 16 years through various training courses.

And such was the demand, which was built two years after Zarandona center, expanding the number of places for Occupational Training.

Astrapace (Association for the Treatment of People with Cerebral Palsy and Related Pathologies) is an association founded by parents in 1980.

The Association of Public Interest, cares for people with Cerebral Palsy and Related Disorders, Social assistance purposes, therapeutic, educational and labor.

Comprehensive care

Astrapace develop their essential work in Zarandona through a Day Care Center, Occupational Center and School Unit.

The Day Centre cares for people severely affected, aged between 21 and 50 years and with conditions such as cerebral palsy and pervasive developmental disorders.

Occupational Center offers comprehensive care to people with intellectual disabilities, both physical and psychological, social, recreational and participatory.

Finally, the school unit pays attention to users in compulsory schooling age (6 to 16 years) and looking for complementarity, covering individual aspects and specific abilities, skills ...

beyond the academic content.

Astrapace is integrated into FEAPS (Confederation of Organisations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy in the Region of Murcia), Aspace (Spanish Confederation of Associations for the Care of Persons with Cerebral Palsy National) and is a member of Cermi Region Murcia (Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities).
