Murcia becomes the international capital of Volunteering (23/02/2011)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Immigration CARM, Joaquín Bascuñana, inaugurated this morning the X sample of volunteers in the Paseo Alfonso X el Sabio

San Antonio Catholic University has inaugurated this morning the X sample of volunteers, as part of the X International Conference on Charities and Volunteers.

In the show, which will run from Wednesday until Sunday 27 February, on the promenade Alfonso X the Wise, attended by about a hundred institutions, organizations and associations active charitable partners.

These include the Government of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, through the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration and the Directorate General of Immigration, Development Cooperation and Volunteerism, the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, the Association Spanish Cancer, Astrapace, Caritas, Manos Unidas, Spanish Red Cross, the Family Forum, Jesus Dropped the Little Sisters of the Poor, Oblate Sisters or Radio Maria, among others.

The President of the Catholic University, José Luis Mendoza, stressed in a positive way the conclusion of the Tenth Edition of the International Conference on Charities and Volunteers and the Volunteer Sample X UCAM, and stressed the commitment of the UCAM with Charity Partner action, embodied in the initiatives developed by the International Institute of Charity and Volunteering, John Paul II.

Then the bishop of Cartagena, Bishop José Manuel Lorca Planes, has highlighted the importance of such initiatives within the university, claiming in this sense that "Volunteering is a concept rising, which is at the root of our history and characterized by combined donation and commitment to others. "

For its part, the Vice Chancellor of University Extension, and Director of the International Institute of Charity and Volunteering, Antonio Alcaraz, said that "The International Conference on Charities and Volunteers offer a wide range of opportunities and face to convey concepts enrich voluntary and charitable activities, involving a total grant. "
