Antonio Sánchez proposes spring XII century as a symbol of Murcia Three Cultures Festival (22/02/2011)

Miguel Ángel Cámara presents the sign announcing the new edition of the Festival and portraying cypress, olive, palm and jacaranda.

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, accompanied by the Councillor for Culture, Fátima Barnuevo, this morning the poster for the XII International Festival for Tolerance Murcia Tres Culturas.

It is a splendid work of the painter Antonio Sánchez Murcia.

Based on the original idea of Jorge Fin-creator of the first lineup of the festival, to represent the palm, olive and cypress as symbols of the Three Cultures, Antonio Sanchez has made a colorful composition with a predominance of blue, so characteristic of his work.

For greater naturalism, the poster of this issue is inspired by a real Murcia countryside, a large house surrounded by trees on a farm in the vicinity of El Valle, which Sanchez has sought to give a personal touch, replacing the original windows other Arab-inspired architecture in a nod to the coexistence of cultures.

The International Festival Murcia Tres Culturas Tolerance is organized by the city of Murcia and in the twelfth year, is sponsored by the Autonomous Community Foundation Cajamurcia, Caja Mediterráneo and multimedia group Truth and collaboration with University of Murcia, School of Dramatic Art Murcia, Iberdrola, El Corte Ingles and Estrella de Levante.

Dotted with cypress, olive and palm trees, the splash of color they put the purple flowers of the jacaranda tree Murcia typically blooming in spring: the season that marks the Murcia Three Cultures International Festival and the author given great prominence in this work.

"Landscape and impressionistic"

Although his works may be regarded as realistic or naturalistic in color and composition, Antonio Sanchez is defined as "an impressionist painter, within naturalism."

Also, despite having been successful collections and exhibitions on architectural and art of bullfighting, Sanchez is considered primarily a landscape painter.

The painter, who is very connected to their homeland, their traditions and festivals, has been the author of several signs Murcia-like celebrations of the Spring Festival 1998 - in addition to illustrate a special edition of Murcia Aires , Vicente Medina, and participate in the design of various programs of fairs and festivals.

Antonio Sánchez Martínez was born in 1965 in the Murcia area of Santiago El Mayor.

In 1978 he began his studies in painting with José Hipólito Miguélez, in Alcala de Henares, and in 1981 entered the School of Arts and Crafts in Murcia.

Since the mid 80's, has exhibited regularly in major Spanish cities.

As a participant in the latter, showed his creations at exhibitions and international fairs in Paris, Florence and Tennessee, among other cities.

His works are in private collections in France, Italy, Britain, USA and Spain, where his paintings have too many municipalities, such as Logroño, Laredo and Murcia.
