The new Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy will reduce harmful gas emissions by up to 40% (12/02/2011)

The reduction of the energy bill will also mean the City Council almost 37 million euros each year.

The innovative LED lighting systems installed in the City represent a saving of around 34%.

The Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy will allow a significant reduction of up to 40% in emissions of greenhouse gases by 2020.

One of the guidelines in this Plan includes the impulse to the installation of street lighting that respects the environment, which involves incorporating the new LED system which will save around 34% of energy.

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, visited various parts of the city to check on the spot the installation of this new type of lighting, in the case of Abenarabi Avenue, has been placed under the State Fund for Employment Sustainability and Local 2010.

The facilities are 25 double columns, with two of 126 LED lights and a total consumption of 282 watts, two columns, with 126 LED fixtures, and with a consumption of 141 watts, 64 points on 42-sidewalk with LED lights and a consumption of 46 watts and 29 LED lights with 32 LED and a total consumption of 35 watts.

In total, the installed capacity with the new configuration is 11,291 watts, a saving of 34%, equivalent to 24,000 kWh per year.

More savings

The Plan of Action for Sustainable Energy describes the specific steps that must be done in the municipality to achieve a more rational use of energy by encouraging their savings and boosting renewable energy.

The Plan will generate a total saving of 1770.78 GWh / year in 2020, in terms of emissions, means avoiding over tCO2/yr 557,204.94.

The cumulative energy savings provided by the plan through 2020 totals more than 7,000 GWh.

The cumulative investment plan of up to 310 million euros distributed to 2020, of which 52% -162 000 000-correspond to the City.

In total, generate economic savings for the municipality of nearly 37 million euros per year by reducing energy bills.

In 2019, the cumulative savings will exceed 332 million euros.
