Mayor House presented a new project that will value the important archaeological site of El Argaric Puntarrón (08/02/2011)

Among the initiatives planned include lectures in various districts and a photographic exhibition

The Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, accompanied by the councilman of Culture and European programs, Fátima Barnuevo, has participated this morning in the presentation of the new awareness campaign Argarruchal on the site of Puntarrón Beniaján Chico, whose discovery now serving half a century.

Argarruchal Association, sponsor of the campaign has been fueled by the city of Murcia, the Association of Friends of the Garden Azacaya and eco-environmental, Projects and Services, in collaboration with the Foundation Cajamurcia.

Among the initiatives that form part of this campaign include the following:

Talks for schools in Beniaján, TorreagĂźera, Bacons Bridge and Llano de Brujas on human evolution, the Culture of Argar and today's modern methods in archeology.

Audiovisual and Photographic Exhibition.

Specific and informative lectures by experts in Beniaján archaeologists.

Sample a piece of Chico Puntarrón as `part of the Month in February, at the Archaeological Museum of Murcia.

In 1961, Chico Puntarrón owners decided to use the terracing of the hill to plant fruit trees on its slopes.

It was then found the first remains of the village, hitherto unknown, whose exploitation would end up providing valuable archaeological information Argaric lifestyle.

This is a settlement Beniaján prototypical and one of the largest in the area where it extended the Argar.

Many were rescued from homes, which are still in place, but the main findings were deposited in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia, where they can be considered: many pieces of pottery, flint knives, bone awls, bracelets, rings , copper and bronze halberds, and even burial cist as much pot.
