Detainee dozen people linked to the Latin King organization in Murcia (04/02/2011)

Agents of the Police Headquarters of Murcia, belonging to the Provincial Information Brigade have carried out an operation against the establishment of structures associated with the Latin Kings organization in the city of Murcia, which has resulted in the dismantling of a incipient chapter of that band and the arrests of its twelve members.

The operation stems from the continuing work of analyzing and monitoring the implementation of such bands in the region of Murcia, which is one of the priorities of the Chief Superior, because the crime rate of the same and the need for prevent the establishment and consolidation of these illicit associations.

The bands of this type are usually composed of very young individuals, some of them children, characterized by the use of coercive and violent methods in the maintenance of internal discipline and defense of urban areas they see as their own .

The internal discipline is maintained through a system of punishments to be imposed on wayward members or little observant of the rules governing the chapters.

The chapter was disbanded in training and pursuing the consolidation of a stable organization based on hierarchical structure and strict obedience and discipline required for all group members.

The operation has led to the arrest of twelve members of that organization, nine men and three women, who are attributed conspiracy offenses, threats, coercion, robbery and injury.

The band leader, 28-year-old Ecuadorian national, is considered an authoritative and very violent person, who arrived in the city of Murcia from Madrid, where as it related to people close to the Latin King.

He is charged in addition to the aforementioned crimes, three counts of sexual assault committed on young band environment, taking advantage of those who abused their position of authority or exert a direct physical violence.

Detainees have various police records as riotous brawls, injuries, threats, robbery, assault on the authority, physical abuse or violation of immigration law.

Three records have been carried home, where extensive documentation has been found, computer equipment and items associated symbology Latin King organization, such as necklaces, crowns and flags with the yellow and black.

Of the twelve prisoners, aged between 14 and 28 years, eight are of Ecuadorian nationality, while the remaining are of Bolivian nationality, Colombian, Spanish and American.

Among the detained include four children, that have been made available to the Office of Juvenile Murcia.

The rest of the detainees have been made available to the examining magistrate in Murcia Guard duties in the morning.

This operation has been coordinated and directed by the Court of Instruction Number Two of Murcia, which instructs preliminary investigation on these facts.
