The City Council Launches Green Jobs project which offers training on organic farming and energy saving (30/01/2011)

It will offer courses and on-line, sessions and personalized advice to create jobs

Murcia City Council Launches Green Jobs project, with the aim of providing training and advice to create and promote agricultural companies.

The initiative, the Department of Environment and Urban Quality and Employment, Civil Protection and Development Cooperation, which direct Adela and Beatriz Martínez-Cache Hontoria respectively, seek to provide an advisory service and training to create jobs, increase productivity and benefit businesses, workers and professionals in the agricultural sector.

The City Council has approved a grant request to the Biodiversity Foundation to carry out this initiative.

The project includes training activities that contribute to the promotion and improvement of agricultural employment, ensuring the future of this activity in the municipality.

It will offer twenty courses of 18 hours each.

Ten of them will face and ten on-line, with 15 places for each course.

Courses will be taught:

- Basic organic farming

- Seeds and farming

- Farm and organic garden

- Biological pest control

- Efficiency and Energy Saving

- Control and prevention of pollution

- Strategies for economic diversification in rural

- Planning and management of environmental projects

- Environmental legislation

In addition, it offers personalized advice via online, phone or in person, for workers, businesses and entrepreneurs to raise awareness and planning management environment, project management, audits, equipment efficiency plans, processes and procedures to ensure energy saving, adaptation to national and European legislation and tourist and business planning within the environmental sector.

To support the training and advice will create an e-learning platform.

It is also planned the organization of open days to enable the expansion and exchange of ideas, creation of a website to launch awareness campaigns, and awards that promote and encourage the participation of workers and enterprises in the management and sustainable development environment.

It will reward the innovative work in technology, products and processes that ensure the protection of the environment.

The aim is to create a business incubator and promote companies and workers a personalized environmental management that reduces the environmental impact.

The initiative has three technical work that will focus on management and planning of environmental policy, waste management, waste control, minimization plans, energy efficiency and savings, and advice on organic farming organic gardens hire and agri-tourism.
