The City installed bicycle parking facilities in eight municipal sports centers (29/01/2011)

The Department of Sports, headed by Miguel Cascales, has installed bicycle parking facilities in eight municipal facilities to encourage the use of this mode of transport between Murcia and facilitate access to sports facilities.

The bicycle parking facilities consist of steel tubes 50 mm in diameter bent into inverted U-shaped.

Each one has a meter high and are separated from one another 80 centimeters.

Aparcabici contains 5 units each, and are marked with "Bicycle parking."

Have been installed outside Inacua Sports Centre (2 bicycle parking), pool Infante (1 aparcabici), Hall Infante (1 aparcabici), Palacio de Deportes (2 bicycle parking facilities), sports Joseph Barnes (1 aparcabici), sports of La Vega (1 aparcabici), Prince of Asturias (2 bicycle parking) and the Sports Center Fleet (2 bicycle parking).

Travel 7,500 euros invested in this initiative.

Routes for walking or running

In addition, the Department has information panels installed seven citizens proposed routes for walking or running ranging from different parts of the city and have different lengths, from 450 meters, the shortest, at 3,500 meters.

It is a measure sponsored by the Government to bring the sport to Murcia or through the network of municipal facilities, as in this case, using the possibilities offered by the city itself.

This proposal is intended for all audiences because it addresses all people, regardless of age, sex and physical condition of each.

The effort and investment in infrastructure construction has been at Murcia in the Spanish city with the largest number of facilities per capita.
