The candidate of the United Left-Greens for mayor of Murcia, Esther Herguedas, today called for the government team and the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) to explain whether the presence of foam on the river Segura is the result of a spill pollutants.
Herguedas has indicated that discharges be harmful to the environment the council and the CHS must determine both the source and the substances present in them, and their potential impact on human health and the flora and fauna of the river environment.
He recalled that the existence of pollutants discharged in the Segura has been denounced repeatedly by his organization, and even there is an open legal proceedings against the CHS, the city of Sewell and EMUASA.
He has also requested the launch of a debate leading to the creation of a river regeneration plan to "allow the people of Murcia and the Vega Baja del Segura river enjoy a healthy, dignified and natural environment an effective contribution to the recovery of the Mediterranean Sea. "
