Councilmember Employment, Civil Protection and Development Cooperation, Beatriz Hontoria, found these days in Ecuador participating in a Forum on Decentralization, has already held the first meeting to launch a project to create a tourism consortium in Ecuador in order to promote the country.
This initiative is through Municipia Program in Ecuador with the AECI, and also involved the Department of Tourism of the Municipality of Murcia, which has experience in setting up the consortium, "Murcia, crossroads."
Hontoria participates in the National Dialogue Forum, which is part of the project 'Tools to support decentralization processes in Ibero America "led by UN-HABITAT in close collaboration with a group of institutions among which are the Committee on Decentralisation and Local Autonomy of Cities and Local Governments led by the Barcelona Provincial Council, the International and Ibero-American Foundation of Administration and Public Policy (FIIAPP), the Ministry of Regional Policy of the Government of Spain, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces and the Spanish Agency International Cooperation (AECI).
The City Council has talked about the experience of decentralization in the municipality of Murcia, municipal and individual Councillors of the City of Murcia.
The project began development in 2008 following the approval by the United Nations Guidelines on decentralization and strengthening of local authorities and aims to provide management tools for decentralization to achieve better quality and access to local public services and encourage debate on the territorial organization and the division of powers between different levels of government.
