Raise awareness among students of the University of Murcia, the need for solidarity and cooperation with Third World countries is the main objective of the agreement signed today between the educational institution and Pilots Association Wings Solidarity, an organization promoting humanitarian missions in different parts of the world, mainly in North Africa.
The Association, led by pilots, focuses primarily on improving the quality of life of people in the Moroccan Atlas and the Spanish evacuation hospitals of children with serious medical conditions.
As the promoter of the agreement, Vice Chancellor for Research, Juan María Vázquez, the agreement can generate a stable relationship with an association that, by having its members the status of pilots, "have the logistical capacity as few NGOs, which allows reach all the sites with their own. "
The Vice Chancellor also commented that many specific actions are planned to capture the full potential of this collaboration of special interest to the University of Murcia, as it affects one of the geographical areas, the countries of North Africa, the Campus of Mare Nostrum.
Among these include the joint development of outreach programs and social awareness, work experience students from the University in activities and centers, NGOs and delivery of training courses about international cooperation.
The Association president, Juan Vidal, said the signing ceremony, held in the building of Convalescence, home of the Rector of the University, its "emotion" in signing an agreement with an institution Murcia, given its of Lorca, and said that this alliance will improve the lives of many people in need.
For its part, the rector, José Antonio Cobacho stressed the responsibility of the University of projecting collective values of solidarity among youth to a more just world.
