The bike reaches the UCAM (14/01/2011)

San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia has been opened at noon for Tranche 1 of the bike path that reaches the UCAM from the Paseo del Malecon in Murcia.

The event, attended by the Mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, the Alderman of Environment of the City of Murcia, Adela Martinez Cache, the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, and the rector of the University, Josefina Garcia with members of the university community.

This stretch of bike path that connects Murcia with the Catholic University, is painted green, allowing it to be clearly identified, and is divided into two parts, round-indicated with white arrows painted on its surface.

In addition, there are two blue circular signs, one on the Paseo del Malecon and another on the campus of the UCAM, which mark the beginning and end of the lane.

Users can walk the stretch in their own bicycles or rent them by going to the shops and bike shops in the Municipality of Murcia, and completing a lease.

During the ceremony, the director of the Department of Human and Religious Sciences of the University Chaplain Antonio Alcaraz, blessed the new cycle.

The mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, stressed that this initiative Murcia City Council wants to articulate a new concept of mobility in the University Campus.

For his part, President of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, has been very satisfied and assured that this bike path will allow a large number of the university community of the UCAM use this means of transportation "which facilitates exercise ", has qualified, and added that this new initiative will clear some of the traffic around the campus.
