Is it worth being a scientist? (12/01/2011)

"Is it worth being a scientist? Pros and cons of a career in science."

This is the provocative title of a panel discussion in which five teachers and researchers from the University of Murcia from various specialties, all members of the Academy of Sciences of the Murcia Region, will discuss from personal experience and professional about the current state of science and the prospects they face in engaging young people who think in future science careers.

The activity will start the program "Dialogue with academics," that this course will encourage meetings and regular discussions with members of the Academy of Science of the Region of Murcia.

The event was held on Thursday, January 13 at 16 pm in the Salon de Grados of the Faculty of Chemistry, and is organized by the Department of Science and Technology Vice President for University Extension, PRINUMA, Vice President for Research and the Academy of Sciences Region of Murcia.

The panel will be moderated by Pablo Artal, professor of Optics at the University of Murcia and President of the Academy of Sciences of the Region of Murcia, and will involve the professors of the university Joseph S.

Carrión García (Plant Biology), Jose Garcia de la Torre (Physical Chemistry), Jose Orihuela Calatayud (Mathematics) and Miguel Ortuño Ortín (Physics).
