The City guarantees the 32,000 members of the 76 senior centers maintain their subsidies and grants (30/11/2010)

The Mayor signed cooperation agreements with the presidents of associations, which every year receives more than 2.1 million euros to finance its activities, services and operating costs.

In this budget, there are the items intended for new buildings that exceed one million euros annually

The largest of the municipality are addressed numerous programs and activities sponsored by the City, many of which are channeled through the social network of neighborhoods and districts.

These 76 units, located throughout the town, have become in recent years in schools that bring together social and cultural life of the population.

Currently, more than 32,000 people feed these associations, whose operation allows you to find an answer to their needs and improving their quality of life, fulfilling a key objective in working the government team.

Today it has taken another step to advance this policy with a ceremony held this morning at the Plenary Hall where the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, has signed with the presidents of the 76 senior centers the relevant partnership agreements for promotion and development of these partnerships.

The event was attended by the Head of the Social Welfare Policies, Equality and Citizenship, Councilwoman Maria del Carmen Pelegrin.

The agreements, which are valid for five years until December 31, 2014 -, ensuring adequate provision of services for members of each association and for the optimal development of social welfare activities for older people .

This collaboration extends from the cessation of the use of municipal premises to the provision of material, technical assistance and grant award.

The annual running of the network of 76 centers for the elderly is an annual cost to the city of just over 2.1 million euros, excluding one million euros each year is spent on construction or expansion of schools.

Most of the budget of 2.1 million, nearly 1.5 million-is intended to bear the costs of maintaining premises, as the Administration also faces the water consumption of the centers reaching 60,000 per year, "Light -500,000 euros, 350,000 euros cleaning and small works and repairs.

Also, older neighborhoods and districts have almost half a million per year from municipal budgets to finance the training courses that are taught in schools, physical therapy sessions or cultural trips.
